What I packed in my carry on for 10 days in Malaysia

Here’s what I packed in my carry on for a 10 day holiday in Malaysia – and it was under seven kilos!

Make sure to read this post: The best tips for traveling with carry on only for all my tips and info on why y0u should travel with carry on, items you should have in your carry on and some hacks for making it work for you. Carry on is so easy, it’s worth a try at least!

Malaysia: We LOVE it – and I reckon it’s one of the most underrated countries in Asia. It has absolutely everything. Check out Borneo here and Palau Rawa, plus the fabulous karst mountain town of Ipoh. Oh and read my review of Kuala Lumpur in Escape magazine here.

What I took in my carry on to Malaysia.

First of all, what is important here is also what I wore, because one of my tips is to wear all your biggest and heaviest items.

I wore:

  • my long pants
  • t-shirt
  • light jacket
  • my tevas (hiking sandals)
  • a bumbag/fanny pack just in case I needed to shove my camera into it to reduce weight.

And then in my backpack I packed:

  • 1 x hat
  • 2 x dresses
  • 1 x shorts
  • 2 x t-shirts
  • 2 x cossies
  • 5 x undies and two bras
  • Computer
  • Swimming goggles and earplugs (in case I do laps, always say I will but rarely do)

And my devices and camera gear although I take very little these days. including:

I also had my toiletries but I take very little:

  • A small conditioner
  • Deoderant
  • A face wash and moisturiser
  • Sunscreen
  • A paper nail file maybe
  • I’ll always pack tampons if I’m going to need them as it can sometimes be hard to find them in some Asian countries

The most important thing is not to stress!

If you forget something you can always get it there so pack light, pack mindfully and enjoy your trip !
