Every family has its favourite way to spend holidays, and until recently I was pretty sure I knew how we liked to travel. Nothing organised, working things out as we went, a little off the beaten track and a lot of playing it by ear. It works for us…but it’s not the most relaxing time as you can imagine.
However, this was turned on its head when we discovered an entirely opposite way of traveling – the all inclusive holiday at Club Med! I’m sure anyone who has stayed at a Club Med is wondering why it took us so long to figure this out, cause it’s a total holiday – if not life – changer.
Club Med has awesome resorts in fabulous locations all around the world – our current favourites are Club Med Tomamu in Hokkaido and Club Med Kabira in Ishigaki, both in Japan, Club Med Bintan in Indonesia (pictured above) and the incredible Club Med Cherating in Malaysia.
Let me tell you why we fell in love with the all inclusive holiday:
The amazing all inclusive concept.
It’s pretty simple. You show up to an incredible resort in an amazing location and have the best holiday ever. You could even arrive without your wallet because everything has already been paid for – your transfers, accommodation, all your food, snacks and drinks, activities and water-sports, all the daily and evening entertainment and parties…it’s so stress-free and relaxing but at the same time there is so much to do should you choose to.
Family activities that I don’t have to organise.
When we have downtime at a resort it seems there are two options – put Emmie in Kids Club and not see her so I can relax, or spend the day together by the pool with me being the entertainment. But here at Club Med there is so much to do that the family can enjoy together, and mum and dad don’t need to entertain – hooray!Emmie loves Mini Club Med, especially the trapeze and the archery, putting on shows and learning circus skill – but there were so many fun family activities we both loved that after her morning trapeze with Mini Kids Club we would meet up for some fun. We jumped around at aqua aerobics and played pool games…then after lunch we would wander down to the beach to snorkel together, wind surf or stand up paddle. It’s just so much fun and there’s no pressure on parents to make the holiday a winner – it’s taken out of your hands and everyone has a great time. There’s also a complete fitness program with yoga, dance, walking and running sessions plus adult trapeze – there is always something going on.
So much fun at Mini Club Med.
Mini Club Med is the kids club at each Club Med resort. It has a full program of activities including trapeze and archery, tightrope walking, arts and craft, swimming and fun activities each day like slip and slide and t-shirt dying. Kids are taken to meals and given snacks and drinks during the day and looked after by the awesome Club Med staff, known as GOs. Emmie made so many friends at Mini Club – they even ate breakfast together – and with her Mini Club GOs who are super friendly and lovely with the kids.At Club Med Tomamu, the Kids Club takes care of all the skiing – from dressing the kids and getting their boots on and out into lessons, then lunch and break time and out to ski again for the afternoon session. It’s amazing.
Fabulous meals, snacks & drinks
All meals, snacks and drinks – including beer, wine, cocktails and some spirits – are included in the holiday and the food is amazing. The restaurant offers multiple options for entree, main meal and desert, all plated freshly for you by chefs at each station and with self serve ice-cream as an option for dessert which kids love. The food is amazing and you’ll be so glad for all the activities as you’ll be eating a lot while you’re there.
Incredible evening entertainment
Every day guests are treated to entertainment by the pool with pool games and dancing and each night there is a fabulous themed performance. Staff create amazing shows – you’d think they were professional – as each GOP shares their talent whether it be singing, dancing or acrobatics. One night each week is a special performance by the kids, and every Thursday is the Club Med epic White Party. Following the shows there are parties – we’ve been to the Pool Party, Foam Party, a local culture night and trivia night. They all feature singing, dancing and so much fun and everyone is up enjoying themselves and dancing.
I think the biggest reason we enjoy Club Med is that it is so much fun – everyone just gets in and enjoys themselves. It’s almost like being a kid again. There are so many laughs and so many happy faces.
It’s perfect for families and we can’t wait for more Club Med all-inclusive holidays!
