I am so ready to travel again, are you? Everything is opening up and it seems like travel is back for all of us. We just took a short break to Fiji which was amazing – but there are a few things to consider when planning to start exploring again. It’s so easy to get super excited with borders opening and travel deals enticing us, but remember – we are traveling in a pandemic and so things are a little different. Here’s what you need to think about before booking your trip:
1. Can I be flexible?
Do you have the time up your sleeve to be flexible? Could you handle bing quarantined at your destination for a week or having to quarantine at home if you caught Covid or were deemed a close contact?
2. Can I get insurance?
Most insurers are offering really good covid cover – but some have now placed caveats. With Covermore for example, you need to purchase your cover 21 days in advance of your trip, which is difficult if you’ve decided to set off spontaneously.
3. Are your passports up to date?
Double and triple check your passports are in date and if so, check that they have six months validity as you need this to enter many countries. Get your renewal in as soon as possible – my cousin’s renewal application took two and a half months to be processed, and you don’t want to be delayed waiting for a passport to arrive in the mail.
4. Is your 12 year old vaccinated?
If you’re in Australia and over the age of 12 you must be vaccinated to leave the country.
5. Check the entry requirements for the country you’re traveling to
Make sure you know everything you need to do and have – like a printed copy of your international vaccination certificate, PCR testing or any other documentation.
