The Mari Mari Culture Centre is the best we’ve ever been to – read more here

When is it?

4 – 13 JANUARY 2019

What we will see:

Malaysian Borneo is divided into two states, Sabah and Sarawak. Our tour explores Sabah – from its islands and beaches, mountains and green farmland to its jungles and rivers.

We will learn about Borneo’s incredible tribal cultures, its tragic past during World War II and celebrate its new commitment to protecting its wildlife in national parks and through rehabilitation centres designed to re-assimilate wildlife back into the jungle.

This is one of my pics from the Sepilok Orangutan Discover Centre – it’s amazing

Flights:

We’ve left the flight bookings to you – Emmie and I love to fly with Air Asia as they have a fabulous network of flights via Kuala Lumpur and are affordable, safe and punctual. You can find comparison flights and times on Skyscanner.com

You MUST arrive in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Borneo before your tour starts – just let us know your arrival time so we can arrange pick up.

The tour finishes in SANDAKAN – you can fly out of here to Kuala Lumpur or other Malaysian destinations. An afternoon departure is best if possible. Or you might wish to stay longer! I would 🙂. Talk to us about other add-ons such as Kuching and Gunug Mulu National Park.

Visas:

Most nationalities are exempt from requiring a visa and receive a permit on arrival for varying amount of time depending on what country you’re from. You can check here.

Insurance:

Everyone who comes with us must have travel insurance. I recommend Cover-More insurance  – I’ve used them since 1997 when I first went backpacking and they’ve always been amazing with help and quickly paying claims. You can use any insurance company you like – just make sure you read the information and make sure you’re well covered.

Please read our Terms and Conditions to ensure you have the best cover as we need everyone to be secure and protected on our trip.
