We’ve just been on our first ever sunset cruise together – in Langkawi, Malaysia! It was a brilliant four hours of cruising past beautiful islands, looking for pink dolphins, swimming, chatting with other guests and eating a delicious dinner – and while the setting sun was hidden behind some naughty clouds that rolled in late to our party, it didn’t dim our fun at all.

We boarded the Naam Group’s beautiful Blue Dolphin at the Langkawi Royal Yacht Club, just 20 minute drive from our hotel and in the centre of Kuah Town. We were greeted by the Captain and six crew and given cold towels to cool us down before we set off to explore the yacht.
With three levels including two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a lounge, and two large outdoor areas there was more than enough room for us and the other nine guests. The yacht can host up to thirty people at a time, and with just 11 of us and the crew there was so much space for all of us and felt like we were on a very private trip.

The entire top deck is covered, with beautiful soft lounges and retro teak tables, and we spent most of our time there as we glided out past the islands of Langkawi for an hour or so before mooring in a channel for a swim.
An inflatable pulled over a netted, high-sides square swimming area that they attached to the back of the boat, and in we jumped…and Em kept on jumping from the ladder, helped by the ever attentive crew, having so much fun. We swam for about 40 minutes before climbing back aboard the yacht (drying off with complimentary towels) and getting ready for dinner. Note: Pack your cossies! We didn’t and Em swam in her undies, and luckily for me, one of our new friends on board let me borrow her brand new cossie.

There was so much food delicious food for dinner – rice, pasta, satay, salad, fish, mini hotdogs and calamari plus fresh fruit for dessert – and of course throughout the cruise we were served complimentary water, soft drink beer and wine.
We ate our dinner cross-legged on the cushions up on the bow of the yacht watching the sea change colour and the reflections of clouds on the blue as the sun went down, with huge brown eagles soaring overhead in the still quietness of dusk.

Em had made a little friend and they had a lovely time playing games with the crew and exploring the yacht, I had a couple of glasses of wine and our small group chatted and enjoyed the luxury afternoon on the water.
All too soon it was time to return to land…we had such a great afternoon with both Emmie and I really enjoying the cruising, swimming and food. Thank you Naam!
