Where to stay with Kids in Ubud – Padma Resort Ubud

Where to stay with Kids in Ubud – Padma Resort Ubud

Pool at Padma Ubud

Choosing where to stay with kids in Ubud is not a difficult decision once you’ve seen the Padma Resort – 30 minutes out of town this luxury Bali resort is surrounded by lush jungle and palm trees and oozes serenity. We stayed three nights at this gorgeous property and loved its incredible views, amazing jungle infinity pool and luxurious rooms and grounds.

The moment you arrive at the Padma  Resort Ubud (sister to Padma Resort Legian) you’ll realise you’re staying at a very special Ubud resort. The open lobby is stunning, with gorgeous lounges and reading spots, tropical gardens and ponds filled with koi that children can feed every morning, a beautiful temple and pathways leading off to the guest rooms and the infamous Padma pool. The rooftops are covered in gardens, it’s just like you’ve been dropped into the middle of the jungle and found an oasis – which you kind of have!

It’s very calming here, and while the weather is slightly cooler in the mountains than on the Bali coast it’s still hot during the day and warm enough to swim and lay in the sun.

The Padma Resort Ubud welcomes children, and has a lovely kids club with its own swimming pool and so many activities for kids. Emmie had the best time – she made friends with many of the staff who spent time with her and it was a really lovely experience for both of us. She was unwell for a little bit while we were at Padma and the staff sent her a beautiful bunch of flowers and a get well card – how nice is that?

So if you’re looking for a luxury resort in Ubud that’s great for families then read on for all the info!

But before we get to the kids stuff, let’s talk about the pool! Because this incredible pool is one of the reasons you’re here.

The pool

The pool at Padma Ubud is just stunning – it’s a curved infinity pool that looks out over the beautiful jungle and palm trees with a gorgeous swim up bar and a secret pool hidden around the side and down a set of stairs!

This is the place to be, you simply wont tire of it. It kind of reminds me of the Marina Bay Sands swimming pool where everyone just gazes over the pool in awe. It’s just stunning.

Yoga & Walking track

Luxury stay at Padma Ubud

Morning and evening yoga is held in the yoga pavilion just below the pool and is a beautiful way to start or finish the day. The morning session is beginner and was perfect for me, it’s so quiet and calming starting the day by doing stretches overlooking the jungle. After yoga I would do the river walk and it’s here I caught this amazing sun burst. The walking track weaves down the side of the mountain through a bamboo plantation and a small river. it’s beautiful. And while we are in the mountains up here it’s still hot so make sure you do your walking in the morning or evening.

And now…for the kids – and well for everyone really! You can book in for all of these activities at Padma Ubud, there is so so much to do – and so much more than I’ve listed here. There’s also mountain biking and village tours and many complimentary activities to enjoy during your stay.

Kids Club

The Kids Club is located right near the pool which is really handy since that’s where you’ll be spending most of your time. It has games, craft, a huge library and its own shallow paddle pool for kids. It also plays movies and the staff are really lovely and kind with the children,

Rice planting

Kids at Padma Ubud

We had the best time planting rice in the Padma field and learning all about the rice growing process. Emmie cast off her protective boots and gloves and jumped into the mud with Pasek to plant the rice. So much muddy fun.

Animal Garden

The hotel has a small animal nursery where most animals roam free but can also be fed as part of your visit.Bunnies, chickens, guinea pigs and guide fowl wander around the grass under the shade of the jungle.

Archery

Kids activities at Padma Ubud

We wandered through the resort to a green field surrounded by palms where we learnt to shoot a bow and arrow! We had so much fun at archery while staff member Nisca taught me and Emmie how to hold our bows and shoot the target.

Local music – angklung

Music lessons at Padma Ubud

Oh this was super fun! Nisca and Pasek taught us all about their local instrument called an Angklung and we learnt how to play them. It was so so much fun. We played songs and sang along in the cafe together and it was a blast. Please make sure to do this while you’re there.

Rooms

Rooms at Padma ubud

Our room was lovely with a huge comfy bed and the softest pillows and a gorgeous view from the room and balcony out to the jungle and palm trees. You’re not going to spend much time in your room but when you do you will love it. Emmie also wants me to let the kids know there is a Disney channel here!

Dining

Padma swimming pool Ubud

You can eat your meals at the resort restaurants or catch the shuttle into town for lunch or dinner. Breakfast is included and is really lovely with a selection of local and western dishes, fresh fruit, pastries and juices. The coffee here is great and they’ll give you a takeaway too.

The Pool Cafe and Bar is great for snacks and lunch and makes great pizza.

The Puhu Restaurant and Lounge is a little more fancy with meals priced at the upper end of what you’ll pay in Bali. I had a curry and mushroom soup – make sure you have the soup, wow it was divine and made with all fresh, local ingredients.

This is where you’ll eat breakfast and its an amazing open restaurant with views out over the infinity and pool and jungle – like the photo above.

Afternoon tea is served here each afternoon for guests with sweet and savoury nibbles, tea and coffee. Yummo.

Shuttle bus

A shuttle bus runs at regular intervals into Ubud town and back. It takes around 30 minutes each way.

Finally, just be mindful that this resort is different from the super family resort, Padma Legian. It’s a little quieter, a little more refined and adult-y. So while kids are definitely welcomed here, just be mindful that they do need to be on their best behaviour (aren’t they always?).

NOTE: We stayed for one night at the resort on a media a rate and two nights as guests of the resort. This post may contain affiliate links – these don’t cost you anything extra but if you purchase anything by using them I may get a small referral fee. Thanks so much! Evie
