With its elegant old-school luxury, beautiful flowering grounds, beachfront location, kids club and incredible pool and statue-waterslide, the Sheraton Lombok Senggigi really is one the best hotels in Lombok for kids. And – it’s affordable! We had so much fun here and can’t wait to return.
Sengiggi is on the west coast of Lombok, just over an hour from the airport and Lumbar port, where you will arrive if you travel across to the island by ferry. From here you can hire local boats to day trip around the Gilli Islands or take the ferry from Bangsal and island hop your way over to the Gillis, Nusa Islands and Bali.
The Lombok Sheraton Senggigi is the perfect spot to start or finish your island holiday – it’s just so relaxing and beautiful, and of course lots of fun. We’d spent about five days in southern Lombok, exploring the area around Kuta Beach before heading north, stopping at rice paddies and waterfalls before arriving at the resort. Here’s what we loved.
The amazing pool and waterslide.
This was absolutely number one for both of us! The pool is lagoon style with lots of private areas and channels, as well as a little bridge that kids love crossing and swimming under. It’s surrounded by frangipanis and has a swim up bar and lots of sun lounges and goreous little cabanas around the pool, so theres always room, and it’s just a few steps from the beach where there are more lovely cabanas and lounges.
But by far the most amazing part about this resort is the waterslide! It is inside an Easter Island-esque statue that blows smoke (steam) out of its mouth! We were obsessed with this slide and had so much fun in the pool, playing games and sliding. I went down it so many times at Emmie’s insistence – so much fun! In the evening flames rise from the six obelisks in front of it and the statue lights up – it’s very theatrical and certainly sets the Sheraton apart as one of the best hotels in Lombok.
The blokes at the towel bar are so sweet – and they’re the ones to talk to if you want the steam/smoke to come out of the statues mouth – and there is sunscreen AND a book exchange at the towel bar too – what a great idea, to put the books right where you need them most!
The beach
This Lombok resort is right on the beach with a beautiful view of evening sunset – you can dine under fairy lights at candlelit tables at the Bawang Putih restaurant and watch the sun go down. Take a walk along the beach past little restaurants and bars and enjoy a swim .
Kids Club
The ladies at resort Kids Club were so sweet and kind with Emmie, and the Kids Club itself is really cute.. There is craft and activities, a putt putt golf course for kids and a garden to play in. It’s located right next to the dining room and pool, which is perfect because while you’re at the pool you’re not far away. You can also organise babysitting should you wish to have a romantic dinner on the beach or a massage – the spa does children’s packages which is a lovely ‘mummy and me’ activity
Laguna Beach Spa
The spa is right on the beach and a short stroll through the tropical gardens. You can have your treatment on the beach in a cabana or in the rooms – I had a massage and Emmie had the children’s treatment including a chocolate scrub! Both were divine, and of course Em fell asleep during hers. It feels like a tropical paradise.
The rooms.
We were so lucky to stay in an Executive Suite which was absolutely stunning. Its two rooms included a lounge and television area, a dining area, plus a huge big sized bedroom a bathroom. Both rooms opened out onto a gorgeous balcony with cane furniture overlooking the gardens down onto the beach. It was so private and beautiful and of course- super comfy beds and pillows completed the perfect details of the room. We felt like royalty!!
You can check out all the room types here.
The architecture
This resort is incredibly beautiful with its convergence of traditional styles – like heavy wooden lamp bases with tropical shades, island-style furniture and open spaces – and elegant modern European . The gardens are stunning and full of frangipanis and palms and there are little hidden crevices to snake into a read or play chess on one of the games perched in the tree branches. I felt like we were in really peaceful times, hidden away from the bustle of life and just relaxing at the pool, in the garden or on our beautiful balcony.
Dining
Breakfast is divine with so many options and a chill room where all the food is kept plus a dedicated section for the kiddies. Views are lovely over the pool and grounds and it’s so easy to finish up and wander down for a swim and a lie in the sun.
All the food at the Sheraton is top notch, we ate there the whole time – and the Bawang Putih restaurant is divine, right on the beach with candles and fairy lights and it’s just a lovely way to enjoy dinner – especially in you’re in Lombok on a romantic holiday.
The Sheraton Senggigi was one of the best resorts we’ve stayed in. It is so beautiful – the grounds, the rooms, the entire resort and the pool and tropical gardens are just stunning – and incredibly relaxing with the beach and the pool and just this vibe of calmness. We will definitely return here, and I can’t wait.
Lombok is definitely somewhere to visit when you’re planning a trip to Indonesia or as an alternative to Bali. It has all the beauty of Indonesia without the crowds and still maintains a beautiful innocence.
Thank you the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort for hosting us.
